I will strengthen the house of Judah, And I will save the house of Joseph, And I will bring them back, Because I have had compassion on them; And they will be as though I had not rejected them, For I am Yahweh their God and I will answer them.— Zechariah 10:6
I will whistle for them to gather them together, for I have redeemed them; and they will increase as they once increased.— Zechariah 10:8

Theological Analysis

What we learn about God

God is a compassionate Shepherd who cares for His flock, providing for their needs and protecting them from false leaders. "I will strengthen the house of Judah, And I will save the house of Joseph, And I will bring them back, Because I have had compassion on them" (Zechariah 10:6).

Christological Connection

Jesus is the ultimate Good Shepherd. Zechariah 10:4 foreshadows Jesus as the "cornerstone" and ruler.

Systematic Theology

The doctrine of divine sovereignty is evident in God's control over the weather and His gathering and strengthening of His people.

Law & Grace

God shows grace by redeeming His people and restoring them. There is an implication that the people had been disobedient, necessitating the need for redemption.

Personal Application

We should seek God for provision and guidance, rejecting false idols and leaders. We should trust in His strength and compassion.
