Theological Analysis
What we learn about God
We learn about the Lord's holiness and might. Psalm 96:9 says, "Worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness; tremble before him, all the earth!" He is deserving of our utmost reverence.
Christological Connection
Though not explicitly mentioned, many see this Psalm as prophetic of Jesus' future reign as King of Kings over all nations. The idea of judging the earth also points toward Jesus and the final judgment. "he comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world in righteousness, and the peoples in his faithfulness." (Psalm 96:13)
