Theological Analysis

What do we learn about God?

God is a God of immense, sacrificial love who desires the salvation of the world and provides the ultimate means through His Son.

How is Christ Connected?

Jesus is the Son of Man lifted up, the only begotten Son of God, and the bridegroom who comes from above and is above all.

What Theology concept is taught?

Regeneration (New Birth) and Christology. Spiritual rebirth is a sovereign act of the Holy Spirit, necessary for entering God's kingdom.

Do we see Law or Grace?

Nicodemus was a teacher of the Law, but Jesus points him to the Grace of the new birth. The chapter contrasts perishing under condemnation with the free gift of eternal life.

Personal Application

We must recognize that our own good works cannot save us, place our absolute faith in the Son of God, and allow Christ to increase while we decrease.
