Theological Analysis
What we learn about God
God is worthy of worship. He desires a relationship with His people. The Lord's name is emphasized through burnt offerings and worship. “Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever!” (Ezra 3:11)
Christological Connection
The laying of the foundation of the Temple symbolizes Christ, the foundation of the church and the new covenant. “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” (Isaiah 9:6)
