Theological Analysis
What we learn about God
We learn about God as the source of satisfaction and fulfillment, whose steadfast love is better than life. "Because your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise you." (Psalm 63:3)
Christological Connection
Jesus is the one who can truly satisfy our spiritual hunger and thirst. "Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst." (John 6:35)
Systematic Theology
Spiritual Formation: The process of becoming more like Christ through seeking God's presence and meditating on his Word. "And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit." (2 Corinthians 3:18)
Law & Grace
The Psalmist needs the mercy and aid of God, so Gods grace provides fulfillment. "For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ." (John 1:17)
Personal Application
We should cultivate a deep longing for God's presence and seek him earnestly in prayer and meditation. "Seek the Lord while he may be found; call upon him while he is near." (Isaiah 55:6)
