Theological Analysis
What we learn about God
O Lord, you hear the desire of the afflicted; you will strengthen their heart; you will incline your ear". (Psalm 10:17). God is attentive to the suffering of the vulnerable and will eventually bring justice. His character is marked by compassion and faithfulness.
Christological Connection
Jesus's ministry focused on advocating for the poor and oppressed. The plea for justice in this psalm finds its ultimate fulfillment in Jesus's redemptive work and his future reign. "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed" (Luke 4:18).
