Theological Analysis

What we learn about God

We learn of Gods patience and faithfulness in using flawed individuals like Samson for his purposes, but also that there are consequences for persistent disobedience. Gods presence can depart when we repeatedly reject his will.

Christological Connection

Samsons sacrifice in destroying the temple of Dagon prefigures Jesus ultimate sacrifice, through which he defeated the powers of darkness and death. However, unlike Samson, Jesus was sinless and perfectly obedient.

Systematic Theology

The consequences of sin. Samson reaped what he sowed through his repeated disobedience.

Law & Grace

The Law is broken through his actions. Grace is seen when God answers his final prayer and grants him strength one last time.

Personal Application

We should examine our own hearts and ensure that we are not engaging in any form of idolatry, whether it be the worship of material possessions, success, or other false gods.
