Deuteronomy 4

Theological Analysis

What we learn about God

God is a jealous God who demands exclusive worship. "For the Lord your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God." (Deuteronomy 4:24)

Christological Connection

Jesus fulfills the law perfectly and is the ultimate representation of Gods wisdom. (Hebrews 1:3).

Systematic Theology

The Uniqueness of God (Monotheism). Deuteronomy 4 strongly affirms that there is no other God besides the Lord. "Know therefore today, and lay it to your heart, that the Lord is God in heaven above and on the earth beneath; there is no other." (Deuteronomy 4:39)

Law & Grace

Obedience to the law is the path to blessing, but it is also clear that God initiated the covenant in grace. "And because he loved your fathers and chose their offspring after them and brought you out of Egypt with his own presence, by his great power," (Deuteronomy 4:37)

Personal Application

By diligently studying and obeying Gods word. "Therefore keep the commandments of the Lord your God and his testimonies and his statutes, which he has commanded you." (Deuteronomy 6:17)
