Theological Analysis
What we learn about God
God hears and answers prayer (Jabez's prayer). God blesses those who seek Him. "And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him." (Hebrews 11:6) God provides our daily bread.
Christological Connection
Jabez's prayer for blessing and protection can be seen as a foreshadowing of the blessings found in Christ. "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places" (Ephesians 1:3)
Systematic Theology
Providence. God's active involvement in the lives of individuals and families, granting blessings and answering prayers. "Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies?
